What is your personal learning goal?
My personal learning goal is to learn all that I can about the different technologies that are available to help me present information and my lessons to my students. I want to be able to learn about them, learn how they work, and also consider how they could benefit or improve my classroom and help me teach better and my student’s learn better. This could be new technologies such as padlet, canva, or even different presentation technologies. I want my lectures and discussions to be engaging to my students and I want to learn about the technologies that will help me to develop that. (2.1a)
How does this goal connect to the learner standard?
My personal learning goal connects to the learner standard because I will be applying these different learning technologies and standards into my classroom, therefore taking my role as a learner seriously to help my students and my classroom be successful. This goal will also help me get engaged in other groups that use these softwares and I plan to pin some things about new technologies to my teaching Pinterest boards for referencing to. (2.1b)
In what ways will this goal support your future teaching in your content area?
One of the ways that this goal supports my teaching in Social Studies is by allowing my students access to things such as media, documentaries, access to library resources and things that they would need to utilize while studying history. This goal will help me to push outside of just the normal lecture and taking notes method or the power point presentations and I’m hoping will give me tools that my students will enjoy and find engaging. Also I plan to keep engaged in updates with these different technologies and softwares. (2.1c)
What product or evidence will you include in your portfolio website at the end of the semester to show that you have accomplished the goal?
The evidence that I will provide will be different technologies that I have researched, learned about, and would like to put to use in my own classrooms to help give my students access to history resources that they might need. I will do some reviews of these different technologies and software also so that I can have a list at the ready for when I’m ready to start creating my lessons and lesson plans. (2.1a)
