What is your personal learning goal?
My personal learning goal in the Analyst section is to provide different ways for my students to show their competency and reflect on their own learning. This will include using a variation of tools such as discussion boards, in person discussions, multiple choice weekly quizzes, reviews from the previous lessons and encouraging open times each class period for my students to ask questions. (2.7a)
How does the goal connect to the analyst standard?
The analyst standard is that educators will provide students with different ways to demonstrate their competency and reflect on their learning. My goal aligns with that by specifying specific tools that I plan to use to allow my students to show that they are competent in their learning and that they are retaining the information.
In what ways will this goal support your future teaching in your content area?
This goal will help support my future teaching because I will be able to provide my students with real time assessments to show them what areas they have strengths in and then also what areas that they may need growth in. This will help both me as the instructor to see what areas I need to deepen my instruction or may review and re-teach but also shows my students where they need to focus their efforts and also show them where they are doing a great job. I believe it is important for students to see where they are succeeding because it helps boost their confidence which in turns helps give them drive and motivation to work in the areas that they need to and this goal will help support me in providing that for my students. I will make sure to keep my assessments varied so that I can see the areas where they help the most. Using technologies such as Padlet when I need students to provide more of a short answer or if I need them to draw something is an example of that. Using technologies also such as Blooket and Wayground will also help me to provide my students with a variation when I need to assess that information was received and retained by using multiple choice questions. Keeping myself updated on new assessment tools is also always so good and I plan to draft up some base outline assessments in the tools I mentioned to help get me started on the right foot. (2.7b)
What product or evidence will you provide in your portfolio website at the end of the semester to show you accomplished the goal?
I plan to draft up some base outline assessments to help me start off on the right foot and I will include those in my portfolio website at the end of the semester.
